Dhilan & Bimal’s Version
With Taylor Swift being so popular this year, we thought we should take a page from her book. She may have Taylor’s Version for her music, but we have Dhilan and Bimal’s Version for Tejal’s Holiday Letter. Without further ado:
As 2023 comes to a close, here are some highlights of our year:
The year commenced with my turning 50 (Editor’s Note: I really want to make a comment, but Editor is well-aware that he is turning 50 soon too) in February, which we enjoyed celebrating with close friends and family. We also celebrated dad’s 80th birthday in July and mom’s 75th birthday in December. Bimal’s birthday lasted the entire month of November and part of December. He enjoyed all the free food he got from birthday coupons (some of which Dhilan ate).
Dhilan continued to perform well at his dance competitions and achieved the personal milestone of performing his first solo dance at a competition in April. (E.N.: I could have sworn this happened a long time ago).
In May, the whole extended family attended Aneesa’s graduation from the University of Tulsa, where Bimal and Dhilan spotted some other-worldly apparitions. We then moved Aneesa to Lubbock, TX for her Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Texas Tech where Bimal was on a mission to break a new record for quickest drive to Lubbock. Aneesa has just completed her second semester at Tech, and is glad to be home for a month before her next semester begins. She has recently learned how to roll over (Note from Aneesa: this isn’t true).
Dhilan embarked on his senior year of high school, marking the beginning of a series of “lasts” and memorable senior traditions. The highlight was watching him perform with the drumline for his last year of high school football. He again wowed with his upside-down drumming performance (E.N.: watch his head turn red).
